Statement on the Throne Speech

Today the federal government outlined an ambitious plan for Canada’s future. The government’s challenge in the weeks ahead will be to turn that ambition into tangible, urgent action.  

Success will depend on remaining focused on a few key priorities: stabilizing Canada’s relationship with the United States, strengthening the Canadian economy, diversifying markets and adopting a responsible fiscal framework. 

So far, the government has demonstrated a willingness to collaborate with the private sector. We hope this spirit of cooperation continues because Canada’s leading employers have knowledge, ideas and expertise to share and they recognize that a strong Canadian economy leads to more jobs and prosperity for all. 

Canada has all the elements it needs to innovate, compete and win on the world stage. Together, we must meet the moment.
