It is no surprise that Ms. Charette has answered the call yet again to serve Canada and Canadians in the critically important role of Chief Trade Negotiator. She will bring rich experience and a demeanor of calm professionalism to the review and renewal of the USMCA.

Throughout her career, whether at the highest levels of the public service or as a diplomat, Ms. Charette has demonstrated a unique capacity to strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors. This will be critical to the successful review and renewal of the USMCA.

At a pivotal time for North American competitiveness and economic security, Canada requires steady leadership, strategic insight, and the ability to build trust across borders and sectors. Ms. Charette embodies those qualities.
