Business Council of Canada welcomes renewed engagement with ASEAN leaders

The Business Council of Canada (BCC) participated in high-level meetings with ASEAN business and government leaders today, underscoring the importance of Canada’s engagement in one of the world’s fastest-growing regions.

The BCC co-hosted Prime Minister Mark Carney for a Canada–ASEAN business roundtable focused on advancing trade, investment, and clean growth opportunities. Discussions centered on infrastructure, energy, technology, and supply chain resilience — sectors where Canadian expertise and innovation are in high demand.

“ASEAN represents enormous potential for Canada,” said Goldy Hyder, president and CEO of the Business Council of Canada. “This region is projected to be the world’s fourth-largest economy by 2030. Canada’s businesses have the skills, technology, resources and solutions to help ASEAN economies grow sustainably — and in doing so, create new opportunities for Canadians at home.”

The BCC used the opportunity to continue close collaboration with its regional business partners including the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN).

“Partnerships across ASEAN are about more than trade — they’re about trust, innovation, and shared prosperity,” added Hyder. “Canadian companies are ready to be long-term partners in the region’s success story.
