Business Council of Canada and Keidanren Deepen Canada–Japan Economic Partnership
The Business Council of Canada (BCC) and Keidanren (Japan Business Federation) reaffirmed their commitment today to strengthening bilateral economic ties and advancing cooperation in innovation, energy security and global supply chain resilience.
The announcement followed a joint Canada–Japan business gathering held in Tokyo with Prime Minister Mark Carney and senior executives from both countries. The event highlighted shared priorities in clean technology, advanced manufacturing and digital transformation.
“Japan is one of Canada’s most important and trusted economic partners,” said Goldy Hyder, president and CEO of the Business Council of Canada. “Our two countries share common values and a belief that trade, and innovation can drive both prosperity and stability. This partnership reflects that spirit.”
The BCC and Keidanren also discussed expanding business collaboration under frameworks such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, while exploring new investment opportunities that support energy transition and critical supply chains.
“Canadian and Japanese companies are natural partners in building the resilient, sustainable economies of the future,” added Hyder. “Together, we can lead in areas that matter — from clean energy to digital innovation to global security.”
