Building a stronger and resilient Canada
Letter to The Honourable Gary Anandasangaree, M.P., P.C., regarding his new appointment as Minister of Public Safety.
Dear Minister,
On behalf of Canada’s most innovative and successful companies, and the millions of Canadians they employ, allow me to offer my sincere congratulations on your new role as Minister of Public Safety.
You are taking the helm of an organization that is critical not only to Canada’s national security, but Canadians’ economic well-being and prosperity.
In today’s confrontational world, where supply chains, infrastructure networks, and technological know-how determine geopolitical standing, Canadian companies increasingly find themselves in the crosshairs of malicious actors seeking to undermine Canada by destabilizing our economy.
Each year the Council’s members invest tens of billions of dollars to keep Canadians safe from these threats. However, to counter increasingly sophisticated and pervasive threats to Canadians’ lives and livelihoods, it is my firm belief that we, as leaders from business and government, must commit to moving forward in true partnership, contributing increased resources, attention, and expertise to the challenge.
On this front, the Council has enjoyed a strong and growing partnership with Public Safety Canada, and its portfolio agencies, characterized by many meaningful engagements of mutual benefit. In January, for instance, Deputy Minister Geddes and Canadian Security Intelligence Service Director Rogers joined 25 CEO members of the Council’s National Security Working Group for a candid discussion on how to strengthen the private sector’s resiliency against foreign economic interference. It is my hope that together we can further expand and elevate this important relationship.
Members of the Council share your commitment to building a stronger, more resilient country. They are ready to share their knowledge and work collaboratively with you and your department to safeguard Canada now and in the future. I look forward to an early opportunity to meet and discuss mutual objectives.
Sincerely,

Goldy Hyder
