Alberta pipeline proposal a welcome development
The Business Council of Canada welcomes the announcement by the Government of Alberta to submit a proposal to develop a new pipeline to the west coast.
A new pipeline can support Canada’s goals to diversify trade, preserve economic security and bolster competitiveness. At the same time, a new pipeline to the west coast can help Canada grow its presence in global markets and receive fair value for its energy products.
We recognize there are still many steps in this process, including a review from the Major Projects Office. Business leaders will be watching closely. Ultimately, investors need to see a predictable pathway to deploy private sector capital with confidence in Canada.
