BCC and Keidanren Sign MOC to Deepen Canada–Japan Business Partnership
Today, the Business Council of Canada (BCC) and Japan’s Keidanren (Japan Business Federation) formally signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) to strengthen the economic ties and business-to-business collaboration between Canada and Japan.
The signing ceremony was attended by Minister Anita Anand, who underscored the Government of Canada’s commitment to strengthening ties with Japan, and by Japan’s Ambassador to Canada, H.E. Yamanouchi Kanji, whose presence highlighted the depth of the bilateral relationship. Their participation reflects the strong support at the highest levels of both governments for deeper collaboration between Canada and Japanese businesses.
At a time of rapid global change, this agreement reflects a shared commitment to a modern, open global economy rooted in innovation, sustainability and inclusive growth.
As Canadian and Japanese business communities mark this launch of deeper cooperation, BCC and Keidanren reaffirm their focus on practical action: facilitating business missions, convening industry-specific working groups, and advancing policy collaboration that enables business growth and job creation in both countries.
Under the MOC, BCC and Keidanren will work together to:
- Identify and promote policies that support a closer economic partnership.
- Exchange more information between business communities to enhance awareness of opportunities for trade and investment.
- Support more frequent exchanges between business leaders and with both governments.
Today’s MOC signing takes place against the backdrop of a long-standing Canada–Japan bilateral relationship and a shared commitment to the rules-based international order. The agreement reinforces the position of both countries as trusted economic partners in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
