Susan is the incoming president and chief executive officer of Stantec (effective October 1, 2026), where she will lead the company’s strategy, growth, and performance. With more than 30 years of experience in architecture, engineering, and environmental consulting, she brings deep industry knowledge, and a strong understanding of the clients and communities Stantec serves.

She is known for her collaborative approach with a focus on developing leaders and building high-performing teams. She believes meaningful impact comes from combining technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement, supported by a shared sense of purpose.

Currently, Susan serves as chief operating officer for North America, overseeing strategic and operational priorities across Stantec’s largest geographic footprint. In this role, she strengthened collaboration across the business, and advanced commercial and risk management practices. Susan also supported leadership development and succession planning and accelerated the use of digital tools and data-informed decision-making.

Previously, Susan served as the chief executive officer of Cardno. Following Stantec’s acquisition of Cardno in 2021, she led the integration as executive vice president of Stantec’s Environmental Services business, significantly expanding the company’s environmental capabilities, and positioning the business for continued growth.

Earlier in her career, Susan held various senior leadership roles with GHD, MWH, and other consulting and environmental services organizations, building extensive experience across strategy, operations, business development, and project delivery.

She remains actively engaged in the industry and serves on the Global Advisory Board of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). She holds a master’s degree in physical sciences (geochemistry) from the University of Chicago, and a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Cincinnati.
