Galen G. Weston is Chairman of Loblaw Companies Limited, part of George Weston Limited, a company that traces its roots back to 1882 where he is Chairman & CEO and the fourth generation of family leaders. As Canada’s leading retailer, Loblaw provides grocery, pharmacy, health and beauty, apparel, and general merchandise to over 18 million Canadians. Galen regularly advocates for long-term values-based thinking in business, including as the author of “Family Firms and ‘Patient Capital’: Thinking in Decades, not Quarters,” which was published in Re-imagining Capitalism (Oxford University Press). He is Chairman of Wittington Investments Limited, a Director of the Consumer Goods Forum and Business Council of Canada, as well as President of the Weston Family Foundation which has given more than $700 million to education, the arts, human microbiome and neurological health, land conservation, and science in Canada’s North.
