Michiel Wielhouwer has been recently appointed President & Country manager for Cananda. Michiel has been with Visa since 2002 and has last role with Visa was SVP for France Belgium and Luxembourg since 2019. Prior to Visa Mr Wielhouwer was a consultant at Teradata (part of NCR).
Michiel has always held client facing roles and has a strong consultative client engagement approach. Within Visa, Michiel has covered a wide variety of PAN European Business Development Management roles focusing on strategic initiatives regarding processing, core products, e-com- and MI solutions. Michiel has been Country Manager for Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg based in Brussels for 3 years. During this period Michiel opened an office in Amsterdam, built up the local team, converted a whole market from a domestic scheme to Visa and represented Visa towards local regulators, central banks, Press and Retailer Associations across these 3 different markets. Prior to being appointed President & Country manager for Canada, Michiel was SVP for France, Belgium and Luxembourg responsible for all Visa activities in these markets. Michiel was during this period also part of the Visa Europe Executive leadership team. Michiel has demonstrated the ability to adapt to different cultures and to create and lead teams that are delivering great business outcomes for clients and Visa.
