Jérôme joined Rio Tinto as Chief Executive, Aluminium in October 2023, and was appointed Chief Executive, Aluminium & Lithium, and Head of Canada, in August 2025.
Jérôme is focused on meeting the growing global demand for critical materials and driving sustainable growth across both portfolios in Canada, the Pacific, Northern Europe, India and Brazil. He is committed to expanding partnerships with First Nations and Indigenous peoples, communities, governments and industry to unlock new opportunities for investment, repowering and long-term value creation. His priorities include advancing the energy transition, accelerating renewable energy solutions and strengthening the resilience of the business. Safety remains the foundation of every decision and operation, and building a strong work culture rooted in diversity and entrepreneurship is central to his approach.
Since joining Rio Tinto, Jérôme helped shape a more agile, performance driven organisation. He introduced Lean as a core management system across the Aluminium and Lithium businesses, driving operational excellence, empowering frontline teams and improving reliability and productivity. Under his leadership, the businesses have accelerated renewable energy initiatives, progressed repowering projects in Canada and the Pacific region, and advanced major growth opportunities aligned with market demand for responsibly produced materials. He has also strengthened collaboration across assets and functions, sharpened portfolio strategy, and helped build a unified vision for the future of Rio Tinto’s aluminium and lithium operations.
Prior to joining Rio Tinto, Jérôme was President & CEO of GE Renewable Energy, and previously held senior leadership roles at Alstom and Imerys. He began his career in investment banking at Crédit Suisse First Boston.
A French national, Jérôme is a graduate of École Polytechnique and École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées.
